Tonal

These celery heart rosettes are so lacy in this black and white context.  I'm enjoying the patterns of nature today.

Happenstance Reflection

I was lucky to catch a glorious moonset the other morning as I rose for the day. The orb was sinking so quickly behind the treetops.  As I scrambled outside, I realized from my vantage point it had already set.  Back inside, so focused on capturing the moon, I didn't even notice the reflection of the interior room is more prominent.  Such is tunnel vision.

Inner Glow

On a dreary morning, this still-bedecked fig tree is the first light.

The Light Within

The afternoon sun dances through windowpanes, enlivening our interior.

Color

I'm enjoying the brightness today.  The edge of the ranunculus is so crisp it appears photoshopped, but it wasn't.  There are no filters in this photo.  The magenta is real.

"Crop Circles" on the Rug

It's shedding season.  One day after vacuuming, this furry "crop circle" tells a tale.  I can just imagine my sweet Ellie scratching while slowly spinning on the spot.  When I was younger I may have focused only on the need to clean it up.  Today, it makes me smile.

The proud artist!

Noticing

The morning sun momentarily plays across the room as it climbs the sky.  Ordinary objects, plain walls, are fleetingly enrobed in splendor, then the moment is past.

Through a Glass . . .

Stormy light illuminates layers, and the inner and outer converge. Reminiscent of a Vermeer interior, this moment begs the question -- is seeing believing?

Still Life

A closer look -- examining everyday objects more purposefully yields a deeper, richer perspective.  We find treasure in the mundane.
As Georgia O'Keefe's subject filled her canvas, a tighter focus reveals more than lovely form.  A life force becomes palpable.  Fleeting as it is, it's worth the look.

Fireflies

On a gloomy day, we remember to conjure the warmth of summer however we can.  This glass ginger jar with air plants (obsessed) in a simulated cloud of warm, twilit memories soothed the soul for a little while.

Serendipity of Neglect

What a fun surprise from my forgotten sweet potato!  I'm enjoying how the color scheme of the sprouts mirrors the oil painting in the background.  A few new sprouts started on the other side too.  It's the little things . . .
