A Holy Hue

Maybe not for everyone else, but for me this vermillion shade is holy.

Coming across it in nature is a communion of sorts with my Mom.

My sweet OA had always noticed it everywhere -- these berries, cardinals, flowers -- It was a pigment she well employed in her art, and utilized in self expression with the wisp of a scarf, or upon her painted lips.

When the brilliant cardinals emerge from these pyracantha bushes, I know that she's here.

Our Carpet of Moss in Winter

Amidst a sea of dormant brown, opportunistic spores have beautifully filled this patch of lawn left barren from summer shade. It loves a chance to glow in the winter sun.

Miracle

The water pulls me back in . . .
Embraced by the soft quiet, the energy here is palpable.  Angst begins to fall away --insignificant now.

I breathe again.

Color

I'm enjoying the brightness today.  The edge of the ranunculus is so crisp it appears photoshopped, but it wasn't.  There are no filters in this photo.  The magenta is real.

Through Another Glass, Brightly

Another view through curved convolutions.  Some of us at Midlife need to look through glass to see anything at all.  An interest in refractory effects follows.

Noticing

The morning sun momentarily plays across the room as it climbs the sky.  Ordinary objects, plain walls, are fleetingly enrobed in splendor, then the moment is past.

Looking Even More Closely

"We are here, we are here, we are here!"

With a nod to Dr. Seuss, that line is what first came to mind when I looked more closely at this new moss.

Remembering to dive in, and to consider the bountiful in the seemingly mundane, checks perspective today.

Patina

The color and texture of this pine bark stands out in a sea of trunks.

Still Life

A closer look -- examining everyday objects more purposefully yields a deeper, richer perspective.  We find treasure in the mundane.
As Georgia O'Keefe's subject filled her canvas, a tighter focus reveals more than lovely form.  A life force becomes palpable.  Fleeting as it is, it's worth the look.
