Rising

In the very early quiet, huddled over a steamy black mug, I was surprised by lateral rays through the trees, and the room was suddenly filled with gold.  Sunrises never get old, but I forget to look for them.  I was lucky today.

Catching Fish

We used to worry we'd inadvertently step on them.  Sometimes the little fish seem to be everywhere.  Soon, we realized they were much too wiley for that.  In constant motion, these little fish evade digital capture most of the time.  I've caught four of them here, but, frozen in time, they might as well be pieces of twig.  The flitting motion, the sun flashing off scales, that's the magic that's too fluid to capture.
